Our history in brief
1972—Company founded by J.L. (Lee) Edwards as G&N Gear to supply gear and spline manufacturing solutions to the burgeoning Southern California Aerospace and Defense Industry.
1986—Mel and Neal Edwards, the founder’s sons, become co-owners and continue to grow the business into one of the larger privately owned gear manufacturers on the West Coast.
1993—Acquisition of Rubicon Gear of Michigan, along with its advanced bevel gear technology. Key people and assets move to California and the company is renamed G&N Rubicon Gear.
2000’s—Through increased focus, our Custom Division’s revenues double. Our plant is expanded by 10,000 square feet and > $2 million is invested in new CNC machine tools.
2011—The company emerges from the recession on solid financial footing, reinvesting > $1 million in plant and equipment upgrades. We initiate a re-branding strategy, changing our name to Rubicon Gear.
